Sakura is the Japanese term for ‘cherry blossom’. 
are my favorite fruit, and while I was looking for civilian names for Sailor Universe back in the day, this name stuck out. I’ve gone by the Sakura alias in various online communities, and also offline when there’s more than one ‘Ashley’ in the area. Either that or Uni. For instance, in the Japanese class I used to attend on Saturdays in high school, they called me Sakura-chan to save on confusion due to another Ashley being in the class. The suffix -san is used to identify me as a woman as opposed to a girl.

Brief Bio~
My adventure with anime began in the mid 90s.
It’s a wonder that I’m where I am today because as a young child, I was always taught that anime was of the devil (this was back when the culture was still fresh in the US).
I specifically recall my very first encounter with it when I was about 6 years old (1996)… I was looking into my friend’s side house door and saw her party bags for her birthday. They had Sailor Moon printed on them. I didn’t know who or what that was…but I did know that I thought it was an extremely beautiful picture. :] So, I initially fell in love with the art of anime before I was able to watch any of it, or understood just what anime was. And for that very reason, I asked my mother if I could go to that girl’s party even though I really hated that kid. lol
However…
my mom was always saying how Sailor Moon was evil, and Pokemon taught evil spirits. There were articles she read about those things which made her suspicious – it really was a crazy new idea in North America, and a lot of people didn’t trust it. Needless to say she didn’t let me go to that one.
But one day my dad let me watch a Batman cartoon…and it sort of evolved from there. Not before Zelda took over, though. While I loved drawing before hand, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time video game was what really got me going with art, and interested in Japanese entertainment. But I’m happy that I got to know anime like I do. Its fantasy aspects are inspiring to me. I enjoy the feeling of freedom and pleasure I get from being involved in this sort of pop-culture – not to mention it’s also brought me to know all the awesome friends I’ve met on and offline. :]
Aside from that lifestyle, I spent 5 years in university, and have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art studio with a focus in Electronic Art. I’m also an officer in the U.S. Air Force, and couldn’t love my country more~
